“ Lucky Pig in Whittier is truly a hidden gem! Their hire pork katsu meal blew me away. The katsu was thiccc with 3 c's but super tender, cooked perfectly all the way through, with a flaky, crunchy exterior that was just right. Their starter specialty, the ball katsu, is also a must-try. It's a mix of ground beef and pork with the same amazing crunchy exterior as the hire katsu, served with a delicious sauce that complements it wonderfully. I was lucky enough to try their secret menu drink, the yuzu matcha. It has a unique sour citrus-y taste that surprisingly pairs well with the traditional matcha flavor. The omurice was another highlight of my meal. The rice was so flavorful, with bits of mushroom(?) embedded throughout, and the tomato sauce was simply to die for. Thanks for reading! - ”
“ Lucky Pig in Whittier is an absolute gem! They offer a delicious variety of Japanese comfort food that I can't stop thinking about. I tried the omurice, and it was fluffy, savory, and perfectly paired with their tomato-based sauce. The ball katsu is a must-try if you're in the mood for a fun twist on traditional pork cutlet. The portion sizes were generous, and everything was full of flavor. ”
“ Had a great first experience dining at Lucky Pig. Food was amazing! We tried a variety of dishes from Hire Katsu, Ball Katsu, Omurice, and Katsu Sando. All items were outstanding! Service was great, and the restaurant was clean and well kept. We will be back! Highly recommend giving them a try! ”
“ Been seeing lots hype on IG about this pl, finally convinced my wife to try them yesterday. Located in a corner of a extremely huge plaza at Whittier. The store was very cozy, some tables and bar stools on the inside and some tables for outside seating. We ordered the Hire Katsu, Cheese Katsu, Omurice, and Curry rice. Initially, they brought out the Don Katsu instead of the cheese Katsu, however, the waitress was very nice to change the order without any complaint. She even threw in the Yuzu Panna Cotta for free. Amazing service indeed. Overall, the foods were excellent, both of my boys loved the foods, 1 favored the Omurice and the other favored Curry rice. We will definitely visit them again in the near future. ”
“ The food was excellent. The pork loin was cooked perfectly. Was moist, tender and very delicious. I like the way the sauce was presented and you can slice it up to your taste with the hot yellow mustard and/or chili relish they put in the side. The proprietor takes really good care of his customers. He is attentive and very kind. My sister loves this place and goes at least one a week since they opened Week days in the evenings are not crowded, but weekends there is usually a line, the food is that good. ”
“ The Katsu was really good and tender. Cooked just right so that the meat was not undercooked, but it was also very tender. The service was awesome. The sauce on the salad was amazing and unique. The sauce for the meat was really flavorful as well. I highly recommend a place to anyone who is looking for some amazing katsu! ”
“ I really love omurice and haven’t had good omurice for a very big while since I left Asia. This place does very good omurice and they have great katsu ball pairing. I think the sauce was a bit too strong compared to those I had in Japan, but considering the smoothness of the egg texture, it made me very fullfilled for the next few days. One thing that concerned me but was solved by asking the server. The katsu looks pink but they’re just the brine color. They’re properly cooked so don’t worry! ”
“ Lucky Pig has some of the best katsu I have had in L.A. It is still the best Asian restaurant in Whittier in my opinion. Today we tried their newer offerings of a chicken katsu and a tagliatelle bolognese. The chicken katsu was incredibly tender and juicy. The tagliatelle was remarkable in its consistency and flavor. ”
